FACILITIES AND SUPPORT
CORE OBJECTIVES OF THE DISABILITY RESOURCE CENTRE
The Disability Resource Centre functions as an ‘Enabling Unit’ as envisaged by the Government of India, designed to remove barriers and create pathways to success. Our objectives reflect MSU’s belief that a truly inclusive university enables individuals to live, learn, teach, and work with self-respect, autonomy, good health, and meaningful relationships.
1. Ensuring Equal and Dignified Access to Education
We support students with disabilities in accessing:
- Academic programmes across all disciplines
- Physical and digital learning environments
- Fair and equitable assessment processes
- University services, facilities, and resources
- Extracurricular activities and campus life Without discrimination, disadvantage, or unnecessary barriers.

2. Providing Holistic Student Support
We recognize that academic success is interconnected with:
- Emotional well-being and mental health
- Self-confidence and self-advocacy skills
- Sense of belonging and community connection
- Physical health and safety
- Social integration and friendship networks
Our support extends beyond academics to nurture the whole person.
3. Academic Support and Accommodations
The DRC will be the catalyst to facilitate reasonable academic accommodations, including extended examination time, alternative assessment formats, accessible study materials, scribes/readers, sign-language support, note-taking assistance, flexible deadlines, and modified instructional requirements where justified.
4. Counselling and Wellness Support
The DRC is fully prepared to offer counselling, mental-health support, self-advocacy training, study skills development, career guidance, and peer-mentoring programmes to support personal, academic, and professional growth.
5. Awareness and Inclusion Initiatives
The DRC schedules to conduct disability awareness programmes, faculty and staff training, sensitisation workshops, inclusive campus events, and observance of key disability-related days to promote an inclusive institutional culture.
