ABOUT THE MAHARAJA SAYAJIRAO UNIVERSITY OF BARODA (MSU)

The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda (MSU), located in Vadodara, Gujarat, stands as one of India’s most distinguished institutions of higher learning. Our journey began in 1881 as Baroda College, making us one of the oldest centres of higher education in Western India. On April 30, 1949, we were formally established as a State University, named in honour of Maharaja Sayajirao Gaekwad III—a visionary leader whose commitment to educational reform, social progress, and inclusive development continues to guide our path.
